le Grand-Duché de Luxembourg est divisé en :
3 districts :
- Luxembourg
- Diekirch
- Grevenmacher
12 cantons (Capellen, Clervaux, Diekirch, Echternach, Esch-sur-Alzette, Grevenmacher, Luxembourg, Mersch, Redange, Remich, Vianden, Wiltz)
116 communes 4 circonscriptions électorales (le Sud, le Centre, l’Est et le Nord) 2 arrondissements judiciaires (Luxembourg et Diekirch) comprenant 3 justices de paix (à Luxembourg, Esch-sur-Alzette et Diekirch) La loi attribue la dénomination de ville aux communes de Diekirch, Differdange, Dudelange, Echternach, Esch-sur-Alzette, Ettelbruck, Grevenmacher, Luxembourg, Remich, Rumelange, Vianden et Wiltz.
La ville de Luxembourg est la capitale du Grand-Duché et le siège du gouvernement.
